Hill and off-the-track Thoroughbred Humble Glory posted a strong dressage score of 34.3 at TerraNova, bettering their mark of 35.1 at the recent Grand-Prix Eventing in Aiken (held at US Advanced level). Their TerraNova score was also close to an FEI-level PB for the pair, who previously scored an equal mark of 34.3 at Wandin CCI4*S in 2023 and a mark of 33.5 at Werribee CCI4*S in 2023.
The Aussie combination only added cross country time penalties to their total to finish on 61.1 in 12th place. Often the quickest on course, at TerraNova the combination looked to be taking easy – as did the Kiwi combination of Monica Spencer and Artist, who finished in 11th on 59.3. Humble Glory has been based with the New Zealand rider whilst in the US.
Colleen Loach of Canada won the class with FE Golden Eye on 27.5, a horse that carries the Fredericks Equestrian prefix after been trained and sold via Australian Clayton Fredericks as a young horse.
Hill will now head back to Australia for Adelaide Equestrian Festival (16-19 April), where she will ride Tulara Baltango in the CCI4*S. The combination is part of Australia’s A Team for the Oceania Championships, where they’ll take on New Zealand.
