It was a delight to watch beautiful horses fresh and eager to work. There are some outstanding horses and riders showing beautiful training, who are all certainly looking towards competing for a National Championship title – yet are focused on their own work with different temperaments and attitudes. Not comparing themselves to one another, but simply schooling and training to the best of their ability.

A huge class of very talented Prix St Georges horses will meet their judges Thursday. It was very clear that the competitiveness and high standard of training and wonderfully expressive horses were out in force on the warm-up. This class is likely to have a very closely contested top group of horses, and most of the field is capable of being in the top 10.
Again, as is often said at these big competitions, the winner will be a combination that shows attention to detail and primarily a horse that makes no mistakes whatsoever during the test – and then on top of that shows submission, suppleness, and harmony between horse and rider… and then a little extravagance!
Some exciting classes today: the Prix St Georges and Inter II should be really exciting and will hopefully kick off a super competitive and talented Australian Dressage Championships. And then of course we have the Para Equestrian and Virtus Equestrian classes as well. Stay tuned!
