Spanish Olympic dressage rider Severo Jurado López has announced that he is moving on from his training base of seven years at Helgstrand Dressage.
In a Facebook post, Severo spoke of his decision to leave Helgstrand and begin his own training stable:
“I have very big news today: I have decided to quit my job at Helgstrand Dressage and to start up my own small training-stable. It have been many fantastic years working for Helgstrand and we made so many unforgettable memories together, but now it’s time for the next chapter in my life. Annika and I will have our stable (in Denmark) for only a few horses/customers, which we want to train and take care of individual. It has always been my dream to have my own stable and I’m feeling ready for it now. We’re super excited and motivated to go this big step!”

Andreas Helgstrand of Helgstrand Dressage also took to social media to farewell Severo:
“The last 7 years has truly been an adventure for both Severo and Helgstrand, but we know that everything has an ending and a number of our riders start up on their own when they have gotten the experience and reputation that it takes. It is with a heavy heart that we have to say goodbye to such a talented and skilled rider but luckily we have had the pleasure of working with Severo for many years and are therefore very happy for him.”
Severo and German dressage rider Annika Damrau now plan to set up their own training stable in Denmark.
Severo has enjoyed plenty of success over the years. He rode Deep Impact on the Spanish team at the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon, and also rode Lorenzo to fifth place in the Grand Prix Freestyle at the 2016 Olympics.
