The final countdown is on for Canberra International Horse Trials. The NCHTA event committee is committed to producing another world class event, with Adelaide CCI5* looming next month, combinations will be chasing qualifying runs at this event.

Paris medallist Chris Burton took time out to help promote this year’s event, fronting the TV cameras along with event organiser Kate MacKenzie, FEI course designer Grant Johnston, and Tassie rider Georgia Elias for a pre-event segment on WIN TV.

Chris entertained the journalist and committee with his stories before being whisked away by the Grant to get his hands dirty on course – he may have used up his last pair of clean jeans to promote the event! Luckily Chris has very fond memories of competing at the park, is impressed with the changes to the venue, and has enjoyed joining the team behind the event for a few hours.

Event officials, interstate and international riders have already started arriving at the park and the venue has started to buzz.

The Asset Construction Hire CCI4* class has good numbers, with two of Chris’s Olympic teammates, Shane Rose and Shanae Lowings, going head-to-head. Shane has four rides in the class and will be looking to back up his win from the September event.

Canberra International Horse Trials has free entry and great viewing areas for cross country.
