Equestrian Australia has announced the selection of Maree Tomkinson and her own Imagine II for the 2024 Longines FEI WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championships for Young Horses to be held 4-8 September in Ermelo, Netherlands. 

Maree and Imagine II, an Oldenburg mare by Ibiza out of Shanghai (St Moritz)  and bred by Gerhard Dustmann in Germany, will compete in the seven-year-old division.

The pair contested the six-year-old class at last year’s Championship in Ermelo for 17th place in the Small Final on 77.2%. In 2021 when still based in Australia, Maree and Imagine II took out the four-year-old championship at Dressage & Jumping with the Stars with a huge score of 89.9%.

This year, Maree and Imagine qualified with performances in CDI-YH classes at Wiesbaden (Germany), Brno (Czechia) and Samorin (Slovakia) where they finished in the top five of each class; at Samorin, they achieved their best CDI-YH 7YO tests to date with 73.522% in the Preliminary Test and 71.057% in the Final Test.

“The studbook, Oldenburger Pferdezuchtverband e.V., have happily provided their permission for Imagine II to represent Australia as per FEI Rule Item 6.2. (foreign bred horses) of the World Breeders Young Horse Championship Policy,” said Equestrian Australia in today’s announcement.
