Aachen: The perfect place to write history. Six World Championships and nine European Championships have already been held at the Soers, on the traditional show grounds of the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein. Riders and their horses have become legends here.

The 2006 World Equestrian Games, which are still regarded by many as the greatest championships in the history of equestrian sport, were unforgettable. The 2006 WEG was a major event that remains etched in the memory and inspired millions of spectators around the world.

In less than 500 days, the FEI World Championships return to Aachen! From 11-23 August 2026, it will once again be all about gold, silver and bronze in the disciplines show jumping, dressage, eventing, driving, vaulting and para dressage in the old imperial city as part of the FEI World Championships Aachen 2026. And the anticipation is growing with each passing day.

Three-time individual Olympic eventing champion Michael Jung has the date marked in his diary. “Aachen will be a huge highlight, I’m sure of that. It’s great that six disciplines are being held in one place, that’s the biggest thing for me. It will be amazing in my own country – with countless people, a great audience and a fantastic atmosphere,” said the 42-year-old.

Isabell Werth, Germany’s most successful Olympic athlete, is particularly looking forward to the special atmosphere for the dressage riders. “It’s quite normal for the show jumpers to compete in front of a sold-out crowd in Aachen’s main stadium, but for us this will once again be an absolute career highlight.”

Christian Kukuk, the Paris Olympic champion in show jumping, says Aachen 2026 would be the next big highlight. “I’m really looking forward to it. I mean, the world is once again the guest of Aachen, which it somehow feels like every year. But a World Championships like this is of course something completely different. I experienced the 2006 World Equestrian Games in Aachen as a spectator and that was something very special. It really gave me goose bumps,” enthuses Kukuk.
