The Jumping Team Final is set to start on the 2nd of August at 10pm AEST in Paris, with the top 10 teams from the qualifier yesterday ready to contest for a medal.

The teams riding today include Germany, Great Britain, Sweden, USA, Belgium, Netherlands, Ireland, France, Israel and Mexico.

Team Final Structure

The top ten teams from the qualifier will start with zero penalties, with the starting order for the team final in reverse of the classification from the qualifier. This final is judged as a Table A against the clock (FEI Jumping Rules art. 238.2.1) over one round, with a jump-off against the clock to resolve any ties for first place or respective medal positions. The course will include 12-14 obstacles and up to 18 efforts, with fences ranging from 1.40 to 1.65 meters in height.

After the first two pairs from each team have jumped, there will be a 20-minute break, followed by an intermediate classification. This classification combines the penalties and times from the first two horse-and-rider combinations of each team to determine the starting order for the anchor pairs; the leading team’s third horse-and-rider combination will start last.

Teams are ranked based on the combined penalties and times of their three pairs. If teams are tied on penalties for first place, a jump off will be held.

If two or fewer teams are tied on penalties for first place, and there are ties for third place based on penalties and time, a jump-off will be held for third place before the jump-off for first place. If no teams are tied for first place but there are ties for second or third place based on penalties and time, a jump-off will be held to determine those medal positions.

The jump-off against the clock will include all three team riders participating in the same order as was ridden in the final round.
