The 24th Manfred & Hilde Swarovski Memorial Dressage Show has begun at Schindlhof in Fritzens, Austria. The CDI4* Grand Prix (qualification for the Grand Prix Special) was won by Isabell Werth and Bella Rose – a mare who has been out of competition since late 2014 with soundness issues. Werth once rated this mare as the best horse she’s ever ridden, so it’s very exciting to see the pair back in action. They scored 77.522% for the win.

Second place went to Dorothee Schneider and Faustus on 74.370%, while Great Britain’s Emilie Faurie and Dono di Maggio scored 74.022% for third.

Australian Briana Burgess and Sissi finished in eighth place in a strong field with a score of 67.565%; a great result but falling just short of the 69%-or-higher the combination needed to gain a second qualifying score for World Equestrian Games selection.

The Grand Prix (qualification for the Grand Prix Freestyle) will take place today (tonight AEST). Simone Pearce and Wladamir O.A. will compete in an attempt to achieve their second required WEG qualifying score. Good luck Simone!

Kristy Oatley with Du Soleil and Swagman were entered on the initial competition participants list for Fritzens, however they were not on the official class start lists. Australians looking to qualify for WEG selection have one more event left at Falsterbo, Sweden, later this month.
