Rebecca Braitling has enjoyed the perfect warm-up for Kentucky CCI5*L in taking out the CCI4*S at Galway Downs with Caravaggio II (Vagnelis-S x Courtesan).

Bec and the 14-year-old British Sporthorse – who she owns in conjunction with Arnell Sporthorses – are preparing for their second Kentucky CCI5*L after jumping clear on cross country and finishing a credible 20th at their first attempt last year.

The combination scored 30.4 in the dressage at Galway Downs, before adding one rail in the jumping and 13.2 time penalties (the quickest of the field) on the cross country to finish on a total of 47.6.

The win also gives Bec 40 qualifying point for the USEF Open of Eventing, set for Morven Park in Virginia in October.

Galway Downs, a premier equestrian venue located in the Temecula Valley, California, is a near-certainty to host the equestrian events for the 2028 LA Olympic Games. The privately-owned venue has ticked all the boxes so far and now waits final IOC sign-off.
