Concours Complet International D’arville has begun in Belgium, with the first day of dressage complete for the CCIO4*S Nations Cup competition.
One of two Australian combinations in the field at Arville, Shenae Lowings and Bold Venture scored 29.8 to place second from 57 starters on day one of the dressage.
Shenae and off the track Thoroughbred ‘Bentley’ travelled to Europe as the reserve combination for the Australian team at the Paris Olympic Games. Following Kevin McNab’s retirement of Don Quidam during the cross country phase at Versailles, Shenae and Bentley had their Olympic moment when they were substituted in for the final jumping phase to help the Aussie team post a finishing score.
The remainder of the 113-strong field at Arville is due to complete the dressage phase on Friday, with fellow Aussie Katja Weimann competing with Jeu de Blanc W at 12.25pm CEST (8.25pm AEST).
