Serena Ireland and Royalty R are ready to go, having set foot on the Dickies Arena for the first time on Monday. “Wow! What a day… truly lost for words on this feeling… what a moment to soak in! Stay tuned, buckle up and come along for the ride,” shared Ireland following her initial training session.

Following the horse inspection, dressage combinations had another familiarisation session on Tuesday evening local time, and will have another opportunity on Wednesday, with the draw set to take place Wednesday evening.

Serena has produced the Australian-bred Royalty R (Regardez Moi x Jive Magic) from Novice level to Grand Prix, and says she’s never known a horse better than the 14-year-old gelding. In a sport filled with variables – travel stress, unfamiliar arenas, new environments – that partnership may be her greatest advantage as they prepare to compete in the USA following their 34-hour trip from Australia.

Competition commences Thursday

The FEI Grand Prix will begin in Fort Worth at 6.15pm CDT on Thursday (9.15am AEST Friday), with the FEI Grand Prix Freestyle scheduled for 6pm CDT on Saturday (9am AEST Sunday).

All combinations who complete the FEI Grand Prix with at least 60% will continue to the FEI Grand Prix Freestyle, where the draw will be in reverse order of the placing of the FEI Grand Prix – with three in the first group (the lowest placed in the FEI Grand Prix) and five for the remaining groups.
