Sam Overton and Oaks Cassanova win Tamworth World Cup
By Equestrian Life
The Tamworth World Cup Qualifier took place at the Australian Equine & Livestock Events Centre (AELEC) on Saturday night, with many of Australia’s top jumping competitors in action.
The first round saw three clears, coming from Sam Overton, Clem Smith, and Tom McDermott. As per World Cup rules, the top twelve were invited back for round two and this meant alongside the three clears, there was one single-fault combination, six four-faulters, one on six faults, and one on eight faults.
Sam Overton riding Oaks Cassanova and Clem Smith riding Oaks Conjuror were the only two to produce double clears, with Tom McDermott having three rails down; Sam and Oaks Cassanova were the quickest and took home the win in front of an enthusiastic crowd! Russell Johnstone and Daprice were clear and fast in round two, and with just one rail down in the first round, they finished in third place.
