RB Sellars, one of Australia’s most trusted rural clothing brands has launched a new premium oilskin outerwear collection that honours the enduring legacy of Australian oilskin while advancing it for the real demands of modern life on the land.
Now available online and in RB Sellars stores nationwide, Khancoban by RB Sellars represents a considered step forward, combining 100% heavyweight cotton oilskin with 100% wool sherpa lining for dependable natural warmth and protection.
Unlike fashion-focussed alternatives, this garment is built for real work in demanding outdoor conditions. Practical details include a dedicated pocket for a mobile phone and/or safety tracking device, generous pockets for gloves and tools, heavy-duty two-way front zips, ribbed inner cuffs, back studded splits for ease of movement, and a longer tail for better coverage. Women’s styles also feature a front and back cape for extra protection, along with a waist cord for a tailored fit.

High country roots
The collection takes its name from Khancoban, a high-country town on the edge of the Snowy Mountains. Known for its early agricultural roots and the cattlemen who chased fresh alpine pastures, the region later became central to one of Australia’s greatest engineering achievements, the Snowy Hydro Scheme.
RB Sellars CEO Jim Gall said that history of resilience, hard work and ingenuity is woven into the Khancoban outerwear collection itself, designed for those who face challenging conditions every single day.
“We asked ourselves what a modern farmer actually needs from this garment and engineered it from there. The result is a premium, hard-wearing oilskin built for real work, that looks great, at a price that reflects that intent.
“So when it came to launching it, there was only one choice: using the real men and women who work in the high country every day.”
The Khancoban campaign was photographed by acclaimed Australian photographer Simon Upton and features the real farmers, graziers and high-country workers who wear RB Sellars every day. No models, and instead just the authentic faces of modern Australian agriculture, and the people this product was built for.
The campaign features high-country local and station manager Richard Triggs and his family, capturing the generational connection to the land that defines so much of rural Australia.
Khancoban builds on RB Sellars’ commitment to championing Australian fibres and the farmers who grow them. Through its Australian Grown campaign, the brand has long celebrated the people, places and practices behind Australian agriculture, from Aus cotton to Aus Merino wool, and Khancoban continues that story, bringing the same ethos of authenticity and purpose to its new oilskin outerwear range.

A superior oilskin, suited to riders
While motorbikes and side-by-sides are increasingly common in farming, many still spend days on horseback — so the range needed to work in the saddle, not just on the ground.
The Khancoban range has been designed with movement and practicality in mind, making it particularly well-suited to horse riders. Key considerations include:
- Freedom of movement
- Longer cuts in select styles for coverage while riding
- Durable construction for daily wear in the saddle
- Weather protection without restricting mobility
It is premium outerwear at an accessible price point, with vests from $319.95 and jackets from $369.95.
The Khancoban range includes men’s and women’s jackets and vests, each developed with a focus on practicality, comfort and long-term wear.
