Recognised as Australia’s premier international dressage event, the Sydney CDI attracts elite combinations from across the country and New Zealand, along with international

judges and officials. The event provides an important platform for riders pursuing Olympic pathways, international rankings and qualification opportunities, while also showcasing the next generation of dressage stars.

For spectators, it offers a rare opportunity to experience world-class equestrian sport up close and witness the remarkable partnership between horse and rider. Dressage – often described as the ballet of equestrian sport – combines athleticism, precision and harmony. Riders guide their horses through a series of highly skilled movements, judged on accuracy, balance and connection.

Sydney CDI organiser Toni Venhaus said the event offers the broader community a unique chance to see the future of Australian equestrian sport.

“Many of the riders competing at Sydney CDI are on pathways towards major international championships, including Olympic Games and World Championships,” Ms Venhaus said. “This event gives people the opportunity to see some of Australia’s most talented riders and horses performing at the highest level, right here in Sydney.”

The four-day programme includes CDI3* Grand Prix competition, Freestyle performances, Under 25, Young Rider and Junior divisions, along with the NSW Young Horse Championships, highlighting the depth of talent across the sport.

Beyond the competition arenas, visitors can enjoy the event atmosphere, including a trade village and hospitality areas, making it an enjoyable day out for horse lovers and newcomers to the sport alike.

“You don’t need to follow dressage to appreciate the beauty and athleticism of these horses,” Ms Venhaus said. “If you love horses or enjoy watching elite sport, Sydney CDI is a wonderful event to experience.”

Organisers expect more than 3,000 visitors across the event and encourage the public to attend and support the riders and horses competing.
