Australian rider Lisa Martin has climbed to the top of the FEI Para Dressage World Individual Rankings – Grade V with a total of 1,386 points. Her rise follows a highly successful year campaigning her star gelding, Villagio, ahead of the FEI World Championships in Aachen this August, where she hopes to be selected for the Australian team.
“Thank you to my incredible horse, Vilaggio, and to everyone who has made this possible, and to the other Australian riders who have moved up the rankings – it’s such a great achievement, bring on the World Champs!” shared Lisa.
Other Australians ranked in the FEI Grade V division include Mietta Innes-Irons, who sits inside the top ten at number six. Stuart Drysdale is ranked 22nd, while Heidi Ford is 51st.
Australian para dressage riders are also represented across all other FEI grades.
In Grade IV, Helen Batson is ranked 13th, with Brooke Neville (24th), Dianne Barnes (25th), Darcy Macaulay (34th), Zoe Vorenas (38th), Kirsty Van Loon (46th), Claire Graham (48th, now reclassified to Grade III), and Saskia Brown (50th) all featuring.
In Grade III, Claire Graham is ranked 10th, while Ella Newbury (24th), Felicity Weal (29th), Emma Booth (43rd), Anne Skinner (47th), Amylie Hines (49th), and Kelly Ffrost (50th) are also listed in the FEI rankings.
Bridget Murphy is Australia’s highest-ranked Grade II rider, sitting sixth, with Maddison Cooke (11th), Joann Formosa (19th), Rebecca Webber (26th), and Victoria Davies (32nd) also included.
In the Grade I rankings, Kylie Christian is 27th and Stella Barton is 36th.
The FEI Para Dressage World Individual Ranking across all grades also features four Australians inside the top 50: Lisa Martin is ranked 10th, Bridget Murphy 29th, Mietta Innes-Irons 30th, and Claire Graham 38th.
Australia currently sits fifth in the FEI Para Dressage World Team Ranking. The majority of these points have been achieved on home soil, with Equestrian Australia and several CPEDI events providing opportunities for team competition.
While FEI rankings are not used for selection for the FEI World Championships, they highlight the strength of Australian para dressage on the world stage. They also reflect the commitment of domestic events to deliver international-level CPEDI competitions, where riders can earn valuable ranking points. Having 25 internationally ranked Australian para dressage riders is a credit to all involved.
