Kevin McNab’s Olympic eventer Dom Quidam is back at home and beginning his recovery program.

The pair had posted a solid dressage score for Australia and were looking on track for a clear and fast cross country round when Kevin felt something amiss and pulled the horse up on course before retiring. It was a moment that garnered widespread appreciate from those watching on, with many praising  Kevin’s horsemanship and care for putting the horse first.

The horse was assessed by the Australian team veterinarian at the Games, who advised that he had sustained a soft tissue injury. Don Quidam underwent treatment with the prognosis being that he would make a full recovery.

“Don Quidam is now safely and happily back at home with his little fans (Kevin and Emma McNab’s children). He travelled well and is now starting his recovering program,” reads a statement from McNab Eventing.

“So much love and respect for this beautiful little horse and the partnership between him and Kevin. No stone shall be left unturned to make sure he is fit and prancing around with his little nose out again soon.”

Get well soon, Don Quidam.
