Australian riders performed exceptionally well in their first appearance at the world-wide FEI World Dressage Challenge in almost two decades.
“It was a wonderful opportunity for so many riders, upon selection by the national selectors to represent their country internationally,” said Prue Spurrett, the Chair of the Equestrian Australia Dressage Committee
With New Zealand winning, the Australian Team took 3rd placing, with only 0.6% separating the top 3 teams from 39 teams worldwide.
The standard of the competition ranges from Intermediate I down to youth classes at elementary level.
Zone 8 comprises Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, South Africa and Taipei. 40 countries competed in the event this year with 665 competitors.
Australia was represented by 32 competitors across 5 levels and registered some outstanding top ten results.
The EADC especially wishes to congratulate Jamie Mita on Westewind who won the Intermediate I in the Zone and Isabel Luxmoore on Linus WK who won the Youth Class in the Zone.

Intermediate I
1. Jamie Mita & Westewind – 67.697 % (Team)
2. Stephanie McDonald & Che de Jeu – 67.237 % (Team)
Both of these riders were respectively 8th and 9th in the Int I World Ranking List (41 competitors). An impressive result.

Prix St. Georges
1. Sara Price & Cheval de Luxe – 67.434 % (Team)
Sara was also 13th in the PSG World Ranking List from a total of 107 competitors!
Senior II Class (about Advanced level)
1. Sidney Hoffman & Freedom C – 66.554 %
2. Cassia Montgomery & Rebel M – 66.486 %
Sidney and Cassia were respectively 12th and 13th in the Senior II World ranking List with 157 competitors!
Senior I Class (about Medium Level)
1. Monica Bird & Bourgogne – 68.359 %
Monica was also 9th in the Senior I World Ranking List from 213 competitors!
Youth Class (16 and under about Elementary level)
The Youth Class was won in our zone by Isabelle Luxmoore on Linus WK with 68.333%. Congratulations!
She was also 3rd in the Youth World ranking list out of 147 competitors!
Caitlin Porter on Marena Display was 5th with 66.417% (Team) and overall 15th in the World-Ranking List.

Australia is looking to go better in 2018 and will field up to 40 riders and a team. The FEI World Dressage Challenge will be conducted in association with the Australian Dressage Championships that are being conducted at Boneo Park from 18-21 October 2018.

FEI World Dressage Challenge
The aim of this Competition is to give the less experienced Dressage riders who, under normal circumstances, cannot take part in international Dressage competitions and live in the more remote countries, the opportunity to compete internationally without having to leave their own country.
