Great Britain’s Gemma Stevens leads the way with nine-year-old Chilli Morning IV on 25.4, just ahead of Brazil’s Marcio Carvalho Jorge and Castle Howard Casanova on 26. Germany’s Nadine Marzahl and Victoria 108 are placed third on 27.1

Chilli Morning IV is one of three clones of the great eventing stallion, Chilli Morning. The other two clones have been ridden by Julia Krajewski (Germany) and Alex Hua Tian (China). Gemma Stevens of course also rides Chilli Knight, another Chilli Morning offspring who recently won Burghley CCI5*-L.

Australian entrant Lamoza Velisha is placed 42nd overall on a score of 36.6 with 15-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding Call Me Cooley (by Passion out of Shalara). Lamoza, 20, is placed sixth in the Under 25 division, where Great Britain’s Cerys Macaulay and Kananaskis have posted the score to beat so far with 31.4.

The second half of the dressage is set to take place Friday, followed by cross country on Saturday and the final jumping phase on Sunday.
