CHIO Aachen gets underway in Germany

The opening day of competition is complete at CHIO Aachen in Germany, with Australian vaulter Ginger Kennett taking part in the very first class, the Prize of Sparkasse CVIO4* Female Compulsory Test.

Ginger scored 6.666 to finish in 20th place, finishing as high as tenth with one of the judges. Later on Friday, Ginger also contested the CVIO4* Female Technical Test to finish 15th on 6.576. Ginger is ranked a very credible 14th in a big field of 27 based on the combined scores of both tests, with one final test still to come.

Ginger’s equine partner at Aachen is Goldjunge, with the horse’s owner – German Jacqueline Schönteich – her lunger.

On Saturday Ginger is set to contest the final class of the Prize of Sparkasse, the CVIO4* Female Free Test to Music, at 2.45pm CEST, 10.45pm AEST.

Next week, the jumping gets underway from Tuesday at CHIO Aachen, with the dressage beginning Wednesday, the driving beginning Thursday, and the eventing starting from Friday. Competition wraps up next Sunday, 7 July.
