Miniature horse - Labelled for reuse

By Equestrian Life

Not to be confused with the miniature pony, the Miniature Horse retains horse characteristics despite being small in stature.

Particularly popular in the USA, there are two registries in the country: the American Miniature Horse Association (AMHA) and the American Miniature Horse Registry (AMHR). ‘Horses’ registered with the AMHR must not exceed 38 inches (96.5cm), while the AMHA requires them to be under 34 inches (86.4cm).

Although primarily kept as pets, Miniature Horses are also used as assistance animals for people with disabilities, and are often shown in hand. Equine agility is becoming popular, where Miniature Horses jump miniature showjumping rounds in hand. Too cute!
