On Thursday, 21-year-old Australian rider Zoe Brown won the CSI5* Friends of the Meadows Cup (1.50m) with KWPN gelding Immer Fortuna (by Berlin out of Corione Fortuna, by Colandro). The combination was one of ten to contest the jump-off from a 32-horse field and then were one of four to go clear the second time out.
Their cracking time of 39.25 seconds saw them finish well clear of the 41.11 seconds set by the next-quickest combination.
The day prior, Zoe also enjoyed a top ten finish in the CSI5* Akita Drilling Cup (1.45m), placing fifth with Unchained 2 (by Uriko out of Anka VIII, by Quidam De Revel).
Rowan Willis wins CSI2* with Billy Exhale
Fellow Aussie Rowan Willis also had a win on Thursday at Spruce Meadows, claiming the CSI2* Friends of the Meadows Jumper (1.30m) with mare Billy Exhale (Eldorado van de Zeshoek x Billy Congo) as the quickest of seven clears in a 12-horse jump-off.
Rowan also enjoyed several other top ten finishes at the event. Partnered with gelding Cape Town (Cassal x Chacco-Blue), he was also second in Thursday’s CSI2* Friends of the Meadows Jumper (1.40m).
In Friday’s Friends of the Meadows Jumper (1.45m), Rowan was seventh with Anglo European Sport Horse gelding Billy Hound Dog (Cicero Z van Paemel x Billy Congo), where they made the jump off and had just one rail down the second time out. The gelding was also eighth in the Friends of the Meadows CSI2* Grand Prix (1.45m) on Sunday, again just having the one rail down after making the jump-off.
Rowan also placed eighth in the Sun Life Derby with For Dilando PS on Sunday.
Top ten result for Hilary Scott
Hilary Scott also had a top ten result at Spruce Meadows with Oaks Milky Way (by Clearway out of Galaxie Piereville, by Jalisco), making the jump-off in Thursday’s 64-horse CSI5* Jayman Built Cup (1.55m) to place ninth.
Hilary was also seventh in Friday’s Atco Cup (1.50m), producing a double clear with KWPN mare Lola by (Cardento 933 out of Valencia, by Otangelo). The duo also secured another top ten finish on Sunday, making the jump-off for the Kubota Cup (1.50m).
