The highly successful Australian combination – who claimed individual bronze at the Tokyo Olympic Games – finished on a total of 31.6 in the CCI3*S, going clear and under time in both jumping phases to place 12th in a huge field of 100 competitors.
Hoy and 16-year-old Vassily (Jaguar Mail x Jalienny) already have their FEI Eventing World Championship MERs in order, achieving them in the CCI4*S at Luhmühlen and CCI4*L at Strzegom last year. They will now be looking to secure strong results this spring ahead of the World Championship Nominated Entries deadline of 6 July 2026.
Fellow Australian Grace Kay and Harthill Samba were also clear of jumping penalties in the CCI3*S, adding just 6.4 cross-country time faults to their dressage score to finish on 41. Pru Dawes and Coolnorran Cooley also jumped a double clear under the Aussie flag, adding 14.8 time faults to their dressage score to finish on 47.1.
Germany’s Calvin Böckmann and Kasparow FRH won the CCI3*S on their dressage score of 26.
Hoy was also in action in the CCI2*S, finishing 14th in Section B with Gulliver des Lones, who added one rail and 2.4 cross-country time faults to his dressage score to finish on 36.4. Hoy also competed with Call It Cooley in the CCN*1, jumping a double clear with a couple of time faults added for a total of 34.8.
Golly and Holly gear up for Badminton
Olivia ‘Golly’ Barton saddled up two horses in the CCI4*S: Hollyander HG and APH Sodoku. Both were clear of jumping penalties, adding 8 and 8.4 cross-country time faults respectively to finish 17th (41.9) and 18th (43.4). Barton was no doubt looking for confidence-building runs with both horses, as Hollyander HG is set to contest the Badminton CCI5*L in May.
In terms of FEI World Championship MERs, the combination has CCI4*S MERs completed to date, but will require either a CCI4*L or CCI5*L MER, such as Badminton.
The CCI4*S in Kronenberg was won by British superstar combination Tom McEwen and JL Dublin, who finished on their dressage score of 23.5.
