First Qualification for Five-Year-Old Horses
The First Qualification for Five-Year-Old Horses took place Thursday, with the class resulting in a clean sweep for German breeding.
The Hanoverian gelding Einfach Imposant B (Escolar x Westernhagen) claimed the win for rider Kira Laura Soddermann and owner Dr Peter Brenske, with scores of 9 for walk, submission and perspective, 8.8 for trot, and 8.7 for canter, receiving a total of 89%. The gelding was bred by Daniela Burkhardt-Robert.
Ellen Richter rode the gelding DSP Lord Löwenherz von Bellin (Lord Europe x United) into second place with scores of 9.8 for trot, 9 for perspective, 8.7 for canter and submission, and 7.7 for walk, for a total of 87.8%. DSP Lord Löwenherz von Bellin is from the Pferdezuchtverband Brandenburg-Anhalt studbook and is bred and owned by MJS Gestüt von Bellin.
Oldenburg mare Weihe’s Happiness OLD (Dynamic Dream x Sir Donnerhall I) placed third for rider Alina Schneider and owner/breeder Christine Arns-Krogmann. The mare received 9.3 for trot, 8.8 for perspective and walk, 8.5 for canter, and 8.2 for submission, for a total of 87.2%.
German breeding also filled fourth and fifth places with stallion Global Amour OLD (Global Player x Fürstenball) for Alexander Yde Helgstrand (86.8%) and Senza Parole F (Secret x For Romance I) for Thomas Schulze (84.8%).
Representing Australia with owner and rider Jemma Heran, Oldenburg mare Zauberfloete 10 (Zenon x San Amour) scored 7.3 for canter, 7 for submission and perspective, 6.8 for walk, and 6.7 for trot, for a total of 69.6%. The duo will now contest Friday’s Small Final, which begins at 10.45pm AEST (2.45pm local time).

Small Final for Six-Year-Old Horses
Dutch stallion Roman Empire (Romanov Blue Hors x Sir Sinclair) claimed the Small Final for Six-Year-Old Horses on Thursday, achieving a score of 86.2% with rider Bart Veeze. The stallion received 8.9 for perspective, 8.8 for trot, 8.6 for walk and canter, and 8.2 for submission.
The Australian combination of Tayla Desmet and Dark Diamond (Diamond Hit x Glock’s Zonik) placed 21st, receiving 7.7 for perspective, 7.5 for walk, 7.4 for canter, 7.2 for trot, and 6.0 for submission, for a total of 71.6%.
Jessica Dertell and Osaka in action on Friday
Australia’s seven-year-old entrants, Osaka P and Jessica Dertell, will contest the First Qualification for Seven-Year-Old Horses on Friday 7 August, which starts at 3.30pm AEST (7.30am local time).
