Do your horsey phrases confuse your non-horsey friends?
By Equestrian Life
Have you ever brought your non-horsey friend along to the stables, only to have them watch on in bewilderment as you talk horses with a fellow rider? Do you struggle to explain horsey concepts to a partner who doesn’t know fetlocks from forelocks? Do your work colleagues think you’re speaking a different language when you begin to answer the question “What did you do on the weekend?”
As horse owners, we use certain phrases day in, day out – often without thinking twice about how they may sound to the non-horsey observer. Here, we ask a non-horsey friend to translate a couple of commonly used sentences….

My horse stepped on his reptilian paddock friends.
2. “He goes well in a snaffle.”
My horse has mastered the art of blowing his nose.
3. “My horse is scouring.”

9. “Check out that impressive passage.”
