Australian Kate Kyros has enjoyed success at Alter Do Chão in Portugal, winning three of four CDI Young Rider tests with 11-year-old KWPN stallion Intro K (Apache x Harmony’s Rousseau) across two competitions.
Both events were held at the National Stud of Alter Real, a breathtaking venue that incorporates a stunning hotel on the grounds.
Kate and Intro K scored 69.088% to win the CDI-Y Team Test and 70.353% to win the CDI-Y Individual Test at the first competition (20-23 March), and were then second in the CDI-Y Team Test on 68.353% and won the CDI-Y Individual Test on 69.382% at the second event (26-30 March).
“Competing at Alter Do Chão was very enjoyable,” says Kate. “The organising committee and competitors were all so friendly and welcoming. It was very exciting to win three out of four Young Rider tests, and hearing the Australian anthem play again in Portugal. A huge thank you must go to Intro: he is a pure joy and I have been so proud of him on this adventure. We are currently driving back to Belgium where Intro will enjoy a well deserved rest at Gestüt Moosbend.”

Kate and Intro K are currently ranked second on the FEI Dressage World Young Rider Rankings.
